  • I want to start taking driving lessons what do I need to do? 

  • To start taking driving lessons you need to be at least 17 years old and have a signed and valid provisional driving license from the DVSA.

 

  • What is a provisional driving license and where do I get one from? 

  • A provisional driving license is a temporary license which allows you to take driving lessons. You can apply for a provisional driving license online by CLICKING HERE or by getting an application form from the post office. 

 

  • Do I need to wear glasses or contact lenses when I drive? 

  • To learn to drive you must be able to read a standard car number plate at 20.5 meters so if you wear glasses or contact lenses generally or whilst you read please ensure that you put these on before your lesson begins.

 

  • How often should I have my driving lessons? 

  • As you are taking driving lessons you should make sure that you don't have gaps in between your driving career because that can put a halt on your learning progress. However we do  recommend that you have between 2 and 4 hours per week. You will also progress much quicker if you have two hour lessons each time.

 

  • How many driving lessons will I need to take? 

  • There is no definite rule or amount of lessons a pupil should take before their driving test because each person is an individual and learn at different rates. However your instructor will, monitor your progress and as you learn a clearer picture will emerge as to how many lessons you will need.

 

  • What is the cheapest way of booking my driving lessons?

  • Which type of driving courses do you provide? 

  • We provide driving courses for provisional license holders and full license holders.   • Do I need to pass the Theory Test before I can start my driving lessons? 

  • No you don't need to pass the theory test before you can start practical driving lessons. It is better to learn the theory side of driving whilst taking practical driving lessons However you will need to pass the theory test before applying for the practical test.

 

  • What should I study to take my theory test? 

  • The best books to study are The Official Highway Code 2019 and The Official DSA Driving Theory Test Book for Car Drivers 2019 by the DVSA. For the Hazard Perception Test there is no official CD or DVD but there are many hazard perception test materials. If you would like help to purchase any product your driving instructor can help.
